101 NOT OUT! - DOROTHY CHARLEMAGNE

DOROTHY CHARLEMAGNE
Born on March 15, 1907 Dorothy Charlemange hails from the town of Soufriere. Like most
people born there Dorothy has the gift of the “green thumb” and lists vegetable gardening as
her number one past time. A great believer in herbal medicine, she concocts a parsley tea as
a cure-all particularly for heart problems.
A spring of parsley gently boiled in a cup of water, cooled and taken once daily for about three
to four days, followed by a course of Ribena will certainly bring great relief from palpitation.
Reading, embroidery, crocheting and baking are among. Dorothy’s other hobbies An avid
reader, she keeps informed of world events by reading all of the local and most of the
regional newspapers.
She remembers in the Second World War because of the acute shortage of salt, sea water
had to be boiled and used for cooking. Her four children have produced 21 grand’s and 22
great-grand’s.
She joined the family of Adelaide’s Home on February 5, 2003 and is our only surviving
centenarian in the home.
