Our outstanding citizen this week is Mr. Augustus Justin, a man who cares for the needy and
has made it his bounden duty to assist them in whatever way he can.
Mr. Justin, father of seven, has spent the last fifteen years rendering community service; He
spends most of his time working for the Home and destitute. He has also rendered his service
to the Home for the Elderly in Soufriere and because of his religious convictions and Christian
virtues this Good Samaritan is prepared to dedicate the rest of his life to helping the poor.
“The poor worries me.” So many of us drive past them every day and never seem to care.
Very few of us stretch a helping hand,” he lamented.
This compelling urge of Mr. Justin’s to assist the needy, has forced him to embark on a “feed
the poor programme.”
Under this programme, coffee and sandwiches are offered to the poor every first Friday of the
month. And as if his humanitarian gestures so far have not been enough on October 1st Mr.
Justin, who owns a commercial printing firm, will be organizing a big bash for the needy on the
island. At the bash the needy will be fed and entertained culturally.
